From download to first movie in five steps, then the questions people ask most.

PEK TV is in beta. It works and is used every day, but expect rough edges, missing polish and the occasional bug. Feedback and bug reports are very welcome on GitHub.

1. Download

Get the 64-bit APK from the Download page.

2. Allow install

Permit "Install unknown apps" for your browser when Android asks.

3. Add media

Settings → add a local or network folder, then scan.

4. Pick a profile

Optionally sign in to PEK Cloud for profiles and sync.

5. Make it yours

Customize the dashboard, choose a skin, add plugins.

Android 8.0 (API 26) or newer, on 64-bit (arm64-v8a) and 32-bit (armeabi-v7a) devices. It also runs on Android TV boxes and sticks.

Pick 64-bit unless you know the device is old. If Android says the app is not compatible, use the 32-bit file.

Allow "Install unknown apps" for the browser or file manager you used to open the APK. After the first install, PEK TV offers updates itself and Android asks you to confirm.

Open Settings, add a media source (a local folder or a network folder: SMB, NFS, FTP, WebDAV, DLNA), and let it scan. Music uses the same folders. Use Rescan after adding files.

No. The optional PEK Cloud account syncs profiles, history and favorites between devices. Profiles require a signed-in account.

Yes. NFO files and artwork next to your videos are read first and win over file names and TMDb. See the Local metadata page.

No. The TMDb Discover plugin uses PEK TV's built-in access; you may add your own key and region in its settings.

They run sandboxed. Each plugin lists what it may do, the install screen shows it, backends pass an automatic scan, and network access is limited to the listed HTTPS hosts. Plugins installed from GitHub are marked unverified, so install only what you trust.

No. It hosts, provides and links to no content and ships with no search provider or index. You are responsible for what you play.

Yes, with the Trakt plugin: scrobbling, history, ratings and favorites both ways, and what you remove on Trakt. Each PEK TV profile connects its own account. Sign-in uses Trakt's device code, so no password is typed into PEK TV.

Yes: six bundled skins, the Skin Maker plugin, or skins from a .zip or GitHub. Skins are colours and corner size only.

They are planned but have no date. Only Android is built today.

The server only answers its own device by default. Setting PEK_BIND and PEK_TOKEN opens its API to others on your network; there is no web page.
